These lumped-element (SPICE) models simulate the frequency-dependent behavior of Coilcraft inductors within the frequency range shown in the accompanying table for the individual selected inductor.
The models represent de-embedded measurements, as described below. Effects due to various different circuit board traces, board materials, ground planes or interactions with other components are not included and can sometimes have a significant effect when comparing the simulation results to measurements of the inductors using other production verification instruments and fixtures.
Measurements were made using a 50 Ohm impedance analyzer. Fixture compensation was performed to remove fixture effects. No DC bias current was applied in any of the measurements. The lumped element values were determined by optimizing the simulation model to an average of the measurements. This method results in a model that represents as closely as possible the typical frequency-dependent behavior of the component within the model frequency range.
Additional information about the test setup used for measuring RF parts can be found in the respective series’ SPICE model PDF documentation.
Each model should only be analyzed at the input and output ports. Individual elements of the model are not determined by parameter measurement. The elements are determined by the overall performance of the lumped element model compared to the measurements taken of the component.

Also available, through Modelithics, is a collection of highly accurate measurement-based models that can be simulated in many popular Electronic Design Automation (EDA) software tools, including Keysight® ADS®, Cadence® AWR Design Environment®, Ansys® HFSS® and more! Modelithics models allow simulation over a wide variety of substrate materials. These models offer broadband parasitic prediction from DC to 20-30 GHz and offer scalable design parameters such as inductance value, pad dimensions, and substrate conditions. Modelithics can also produce custom models for other Coilcraft product families. Through Modelithics Vendor Partner (MVP) Program, Coilcraft is sponsoring free trials for all Modelithics Coilcraft models. | |
