The PL140 Series power rating of 140 Watts is based on full bridge or half bridge switching at 100 kHz. That rating would be reduced to 100 Watts for push pull and 50 Watts for forward converters. As with all transformers, the output power of the PL140 series is highly dependent upon topology, operating frequency and input voltage. For example, a higher switching frequency reduces the number of primary turns, in turn reducing the DCR, and thus increasing the throughput power: The PL140-104L (12 primary turns) is rated for 100 Watts in a push pull circuit at 100 kHz, whereas the PL140-100L (8 primary turns) would be rated at 150 Watts in the same circuit operating at 200 kHz.
