As vehicles implement an ever-increasing amount of infotainment and safety systems, proportionate increases in wiring harnesses are required. In order to reduce the weight of these additional harnesses, engineers are looking at PoC to send both the power and data transmissions over the same cable. A bias tee is used on both the transmitter and receiver side to inject a DC power to an AC signal to power the camera module while also isolating the AC signal from the DC source to prevent signal distortion (see Figure 1). The proper selection of the inductor for PoC requires low insertion loss and high return loss over the entire frequency spectrum.
